So over the rhine was named the most dangerous neighborhood in the country. Interesting… I just had a conversation with a friend about how she walks through otr multiple times daily and has never had an issue. I think it is all about your attitude and respect for people.
While I agree that this list is pretty much bullshit (a good post here standing up for OTR http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?p=4320822 ), it looks like the way they’re rating these are based on violent crimes and possibly 911 calls or something. I bike and walk through OTR all the time as well, and I’m ok, but there are random robberies/muggings when the victim is walking alone, and there’s lots of gang type involvement, as well as quite a bit that happens at night. I feel ok there, but I wouldn’t at night alone, and that’s just a safety thing.
People always say “OMG you go to school in Cincinnati!? Have you ever been shot at?”… honestly, that’s dumb, but at the same time we do get weekly reports of armed robberies up by campus, so I’m sure the non-student population in OTR could be a little worse.
